Basic concept
NEOJAPAN’s business activities contribute to a more prosperous society based on our Corporate Philosophy—”Contributing to the formation of a flourishing information society through real IT communication tools.” We consider respect for and strict protection of the human rights of all people to be important elements that serve as bases of business activities.
Positioning of this Policy
This Policy has been formulated as our highest-ranking policy on efforts to respect human rights in business activities, based on the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Legal and regulatory compliance
NEOJAPAN understands and conforms to laws, regulations, and rules applicable to our business activities in all countries and regions in which we do business. We respect internationally recognized human rights to the maximum extent within the scope of the laws, regulations, and rules of the countries and regions in which we do business.
We act in accordance with the human rights set forth in the International Bill of Human Rights and the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. We practice respect for human rights in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and Japan’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights based thereon.
Scope
This Policy applies to all officers and employees of NEOJAPAN. Business partners, suppliers, and other related parties are requested to understand and support this Policy and are expected to endeavor to respect human rights.
Practicing respect for human rights
- NEOJAPAN understands that its business activities may directly or indirectly impact the human rights of stakeholders.
- We strive to ensure that our business activities will not infringe on the internationally recognized human rights of our stakeholders, including those associated with prohibition of various types of discrimination and harassment, the provision of safe working environments, proper management of working hours, and responsible labor practices including protecting the rights of foreign workers. We take appropriate action to remedy any negative impacts created by our business activities on human rights. In the event that a business partner, supplier, or other external related party is involved in any detrimental act related to human rights, we take steps such as encouraging appropriate measures to respect and avoid violating human rights, to prevent any indirect involvement in human rights violations.
Responsibility to respect human rights and redress
Should it become clear that NEOJAPAN’s business activities violate human rights or impact them indirectly, we will take steps to achieve redress based on a consideration of international norms.
Human rights due diligence
Based on the human rights due diligence set forth in the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, NEOJAPAN strives to identify key issues related to human rights. We check on various matters, including risks associated with a high likelihood of emerging in light of our products, services, regions, and company properties; ascertain any direct or indirect violations or impacts on human rights; and evaluate our involvement. We seek to immediately address any risks of human rights violations identified through this approach. If doing so would be difficult, we prioritize risks and implement corrective and remediation measures appropriately. We review important human rights issues through means such as continual information collection and stakeholder dialogue.
Education
NEOJAPAN will carry out appropriate education to raise awareness of human rights among each and every officer and employee and execute this Policy through business activities.
